What is detention?

Detention charge is applicable, after the free time expires, for the use of the carrier’s full container inside the marine terminal, railroad facilities or container yard. This charge can also apply while the container is undergoing Jordanian customs inspections, or while the cargo inside the container is being reworked for safety reasons. 

What is demurrage?

Demurrage is the charge applicable, after the free time expires, inside the terminal for the use of the land.

Make sure to indicate the following in email subject :"Dispute + Invoice Number", describing the reasons for your dispute. 
 
What is Per Diem?

Per Diem is the charge applicable, after the free time expires, for the use of the carrier’s container (full or empty) outside the marine terminal, rail ramp or container yard.  
 
In case of Per Diem disputes, email jo216-info.amman@msc.com mentioning the invoice number in the email subject. Please describe the reasons


What are storage charges?

A storage charge is applicable, after the free time expires, for containers left inside the rail ramp or container yard (for the use of the land).

What is VGM?

Verified Gross Mass or VGM refers to the exact, verified weight of a packed container. For safety reasons, vessel operators can only load a container if its weight has been verified.

In line with SOLAS (Safety of Lives at Sea) regulations, Jordan Maritime Commission  all marine terminals in Jordan are now allowed to use their certified scales to record Verified Gross Mass (VGM) of shipments. 

You must include the following on all VGM instructions:

• The following items are mandatory and must be on all VGM instructions
  
  Booking or Bill of Lading number
  Container number
  Weight certificate.
  VGM + unit
  Authorized person’s signatory (submitter of the VGM who may be authorized to act on behalf of shippers
  Responsible party Name

How to submit your VGM instructions?

Via Fax, emails.
Via Standard Shipping instructions signed

Deadlines for sending your VGM instructions
48 hours of ETA as per usual practice.

Admin Fees and costs
There are no administration charges imposed by MSC for the moment. Should there be any fees we will share with you.

Recommendations
Keep the VGM records.
MSC Local agency should be informed in advance about the appointment of 3rd parties to provide the VGM.
In case of discrepancy, shipper is entitled to immediately send the corrected weight certificate before cut off.

• Counterfeit money and goods
• Pornographic material
• "Used Clothes and Shoes " From Tunis are Prohibited
• "Importing donations and or humanitarian cargo to Jordan is accepted by the authorized charity organizations only; POL agent should contact MSC Jordan before any shipments take place and provide consignee name and full style address."
