Attn: customers with cargo onboard MAERSK EINDHOVEN voyage 106S
We refer to our previous communication in respect of the MAERSK EINDHOVEN engine stop during heavy weather en route from Xiamen, China, to Los Angeles, USA.
The MAERSK EINDHOVEN was carrying cargo for MSC customers on voyage 106S as part of our Pearl service.
We have received confirmation from Maersk that during the incident 260 containers in total went overboard, about one third of which were carrying cargo for customers of MSC. Additionally, we understand that there are about twenty damaged MSC containers onboard the vessel.
The vessel is now in Japanese waters. Maersk is awaiting clearance by Japanese authorities for transit into APM Terminals Yokohama, Japan on 25 February. Once at berth, the vessel will be inspected to assess the status of any containers damaged onboard and the amount of time required to fix the vessel. This assessment will require some time and may impact the vessel’s schedule.
MSC will directly contact customers with lost or damaged containers.
