What is VGM?

What do I need to include in my VGM instructions?

The following items are mandatory and must be on all VGM instructions to MSC and the terminal:

Booking or Bill of Lading Number
Container number and size
VGM – Verified Gross Mass
Weighing method
Authorised person’s signature (submitter of the VGM who may be authorised to act on behalf of shippers)
Shipper’s name
Vessel name & voyage

How can I submit my VGM instructions?

Guidelines for submitting your VGM instructions:

As per the Notification (No. 3/2006) of the Department of Marine Administration (DMA):

Shippers must initially register at DMA and shall commence their VGM declaration by using their respective registered numbers.

Shippers of garment products shall get their registration at DMA by taking responsibility for the accuracy of the weight declaration of their goods.

Apart from garment products, those who will be utilising loading method no. 2 for their goods shall obtain registration by presenting the weighing equipment. supporting documents and their assurance of taking responsibility for the weight of their export cargoes.

Shippers who will be utilising method no. 1 shall declare the VGM as per the respective weigh bridge of the port terminal having temporarily recognised.

Shippers utilising method no. 2 shall declare the VGM by showing the weight of commodities and the weight of the containers.

Based on the VGM copy received, terminals/feeder operators will use the VGM for stowage planning.

VGM cut off = 42 hours prior to vessel ETA

In Myanmar, there are currently in terminals with a “NO VGM, NO LOADING” policy.

MSC admin fees and costs:

Manual VGM submission fee (applies to email and inclusion on standard shipping instructions): USD 15.00 per container.

VGM misdeclaration/amendment Fee: USD 50.00 per container.

It is illegal to bring the following items into or out of Myanmar.

Imports:

Counterfeit coins and currencies
Pornographic articles
Piece goods without stamped measurement
Goods having counterfeit trademark
All kinds of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances
Playing cards
Goods bearing the imprint or reproduction of the flag of the Union of Myanmar
Goods bearing the emblem of Buddha & Pagodas of Myanmar

Exports:

Arms and ammunitions
Pornographic articles
Antiques
All kinds of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances
