In just its second appearance at the event, the MSC team finished in an impressive 12th place in our category and 36th place overall, under the skilled leadership of skipper Nicolas Groux.
Over 100 boats were in action throughout the weekend, manned by over 1,000 sailors from 11 countries, including Bulgaria, Romania, Switzerland, the UAE, Italy, France, Slovenia, Russia, Georgia, Greece, and the UK. Sailing alongside skipper Groux was a team comprised of employees from our headquarters in Geneva.
The crew overcame challenging conditions, including unstable winds, strong currents, gusts of up to 30 knots and even a thunderstorm in the Bosphorus Strait.
The Beauty of the Bosphorus
Since founding our Istanbul office in 1995, Turkey has become a strategically important market for us. Today, over 30 services connect more than 230 global routes, with MSC Türkiye moving more than 2,000,000 TEU annually. As part of our commitment to engaging with local communities and fostering strategic markets, we were keen to be involved as much as possible in this distinguished event.
In addition to competing and sponsoring the regatta, we invited over 70 clients to attend. The local commercial team was on hand throughout, strengthening relationships with stakeholders and reflecting our dedication to customer satisfaction and collaboration.
Sporting Sustainability
Sailing is a natural fit for MSC, aligning with our maritime heritage, values, and genuine passion for the sea. Our deep care for the marine environment means we work hard to protect and minimize our impact on it. As one of the greenest sports in the world, sailing dovetails perfectly with this sustainability journey.
The MSC Sailing team compete regularly in international regattas, recently sailing in Spain’s Trofeo SM La Reina and Geneva’s Bol d’Or.
