On 3 October 2024, the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance, Ltd. (USMX) reached a tentative agreement on wages and have agreed to extend their Master Contract until 15 January 2025. The ILA has suspended the work stoppage impacting US East and Gulf coast ports that began 1 October 2024.
As a result, MSC will not increase the Emergency Operations Surcharge (EOS) applicable to shipments directed from West Med, Adriatic and Israel to United States, Canada and Mexico.
However, the EOS which was previously announced in MSC’s Customer Advisory on 15 August 2024 remains in place for all shipments from West Med, Adriatic and Israel to United States, Canada and Mexico at the following price:
• USD 1200/20’
• USD 1500/40’
• USD 2000/REEFER
MSC remains committed to assist customers with any remaining disruptions due to the initial work stoppage.
