MSC Aries Incident Update

We know many of you are concerned and shocked by the grave incident that took place on Saturday morning 13th of April 2024 involving the seizure of the MSC Aries in the Strait of Hormuz.

Unfortunately, due to the extremely sensitive and fluid nature of the situation we face we can only provide the following information about the situation at this time:

• MSC Aries was seized by the Iranian authorities on 13 April in the Strait of Hormuz while transiting international waters;
• MSC Aries is owned by Gortal Shipping Inc. and chartered by MSC;
• The 25 crew are safe and discussions with the Iranian authorities are in progress to secure their earliest release;
• We are also working with the Iranian authorities to have the cargo discharged;
• And MSC will continue to provide uninterrupted and regular service on the Himalaya Express and all other services operating in the region.
