Emergency Operations Surcharge (EOS) Update Trade from USA East and Gulf Coasts to Other Destinations

04/10/2024

On 3 October 2024, the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance, Ltd. (USMX) reached a tentative agreement on wages and have agreed to extend their Master Contract until 15 January 2025. The ILA has suspended the work stoppage impacting US East and Gulf coast ports that began 1 October 2024.

As a result, MSC will suspend the Emergency Operations Surcharge (EOS) applicable to shipments directed from USA East and Gulf Coasts to other destinations, which was initially announced in MSC’s Customer Advisory as of 3 October 2024.

This additional EOS will no longer apply.

MSC remains committed to assist customers with any remaining disruptions due to the initial work stoppage.
