MSC to Upgrade Transatlantic String As Part of 2M

16/02/2017

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is pleased to announce changes to the Transatlantic trade which the company operates as part of 2M. The new service will take effect from 1st April 2017.

The port of Wilmington, and a second weekly call to/from Savannah will be added to the NEUATL2 service, will provide especially fast transit times to Bremerhaven.

The revision follows an unprecedented year in the liner industry, which saw considerable change to the composition of alliances and commercial structures, including significant mergers and acquisitions.

It ensures that MSC – as part of 2M – is able to maintain the most efficient network, with strong reliability and stability of service.

The scale of the Transatlantic network is larger today, as a result of the new slot purchase agreements, reached directly with Hamburg Sud and Hyundai.

The 2M partners have ensured the network has been optimized to accommodate the volumes, therefore, despite the increase in the network operation, this does not impact on the capacity being deployed into the current market.

All vessels on the network being announced today will be operated exclusively by MSC and Maersk Line only.
