MSC COO joins WSC board

Claudio Bozzo, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company’s Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed to the board of the World Shipping Council.

The prestigious appointment becomes effective immediately, and sees Mr Bozzo working alongside 10 other respected shipping industry professionals to drive forward the council’s objectives on behalf of its global membership.

With offices in Brussels and Washington DC, The World Shipping Council is an association of liner shipping companies, providing a coordinated voice for the liner shipping industry through its work with policymakers and other industry groups interested in international transportation issues.

A former student of Political Science at the University of Genoa, Claudio Bozzo is a much acknowledged leader in the maritime industry who has accomplished a vast amount in his career to date.

Having joined MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company in New York in 1994 as a clerk in the intermodal department, Claudio went on to become President and CEO of MSC USA, where he elevated the business to the market leader position in the United States and saw it triple in size in 10 years.

Commendatore of the Italian Republic (2012). In 2009, he became president of the Italian American Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Bozzo’s credentials saw him become the youngest-ever company president to join the United Nations International Maritime Hall of Fame in 2011, and two years later he was appointed president of the European Chamber of Commerce in USA.

In 2014, he was appointed to the newly created global position of Chief Operating Officer at MSC’s global headquarters.
