Attn: customers with cargo onboard MAERSK EUREKA voyage 108N

Maersk has informed us that the container ship MAERSK EUREKA, deployed on our Sequoia service, had to stop at sea due to a damaged fuel pump on 12 March while en route to Long Beach, USA.

On 14 March, the vessel had to stop again to perform additional investigation. The engine remains off in order to reduce further impact.

The vessel operator has informed MSC that no containers have been lost or damaged and all reefers are on-power.

MAERSK mandated a service technician crew for the repairs who will arrive by tug boat on 28 March. Repairs will take place at sea and are expected to last until 31 March and the vessel operator has said it is monitoring lashings as higher winds are expected in the next 3-5 days, with the tug remaining on standby in case of need.

Now, due to repairs, the vessel is expected to be 15-20 day behind schedule.

MSC regrets any inconvenience caused by this incident and we will communicate again in due course as soon as we have updated information to pass on to you from Maersk about the estimated arrival and berthing in Long Beach.
